President’s Message

Dr. G. Ramakrishnan

Dr. G. Ramakrishnan

On behalf of CSI, I am very pleased to greet all its individual Life Members and Corporate Members and thank them for all the support given during the last 14 years of its service to the scientific community. I wish to greet also all others, who have been visiting CSI website frequently. . We are pleased that week after week, we are getting at least a couple of hundred people visiting our website per week, many of them first time visitors and the remaining returning visitors. This gives us a feeling that we are providing information that is important to the readers. We hope to continue enriching our website with more information in the near future. At the same time, we also hope that more and more new individual members and corporate members will join and strengthen this not- for- profit organization.

As we have entered to our 15th year of service, we want to reaffirm our promise that we will bring innovations to the activities we have been doing. One initiative will be to enter into collaboration with similar not- for -profit organizations with objectives close to that of CSI. We are very pleased that we have been able to run a few seminars and workshops with the help of SIES Institute of Chromatography and Spectroscopy, which has been established at the end of 2013 at Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The laboratory facilities at the SIES-ICS are admirable and these facilities have been available for the activities of CSI so far and we are hopeful that it will continue in the coming years also.

CSI is a platform where the members and well-wishers can come forward and share their ideas and knowledge with the rest of the scientific community as resource personnel for the seminars and workshops organized by CSI. They can also write articles and provide PPT slides that can be uploaded to the CSI website. Some of the articles can be also included in the technical souvenir publications that CSI brings from time to time.

CSI has been active over the years to recognize and honor those scientists, who have spent their lifetime in promoting the chromatographic education and research. We have honored a few such as Dr. S.C.Bhattacharya, Dr. Sukh Dev, Dr. R.T.Sane, Dr. R.M.Iyer and Dr. Shripad Khopkar so far and we wish to continue this tradition in the coming years also. This year The Life Time Contribution Award will be conferred on Prof ( Dr) Pat Sandra of Belgium and Dr. A. V. Rama Rao of Hyderabad. CSI has also recognized the contributions of some of the pioneers of the industry, who have contributed in building the analytical industry in India.

We are very happy with our association with Chromatographic Society of UK, ChromAcademy of UK and Research Institute of Chromatography in Belgium. We are happy that the publishers of the journal “Chromatography Today” has permitted to display all the issues on CSI website. We will be very pleased to collaborate with any of the instrument vendors in arranging technical seminars. Besides this, CSI volunteers will be pleased to visit any university, college or institute to conduct seminars or workshops after necessary planning.

CSI would welcome more individuals to become Life Members of CSI and companies practicing and promoting chromatography as Corporate Members. This will help us a lot in propagating and carrying our mission of providing education in chromatography and mass spectrometry to students, teachers and practicing chemists of the industry. Last, but not the least, I would welcome your suggestions and recommendations sent to info@chromsocindia.org.
